Rain-free day at Longwood

One of my best college friends came to visit for the weekend and she really wanted to go to Longwood Gardens. Since Longwood Gardens is 5 minutes from our house, we said sure, we can do that. So we went today, even though this morning the skies were dark, and there was constant rumbling in the distance, and all the TV stations were flashing storm warnings all over the place. And guess what??

We didn't get wet at all! It was cool and comfy the whole day (for once, the kids didn't get sunburned!), and it was also very empty at Longwood which was perfect.

We had a great time, C's mom came along with us too. She is on crutches right now because of some muscle issues in her foot, so we rented a wheelchair for her and the kids took turns pushing Grandma around the gardens. The kids loved getting wet in the new children's garden. Later, H stole the camera from us and said that she was going to take some "really good flower pictures". In the past when the kids commandeer the camera, we usually end up going through the pictures later and deleting a bunch of blurry, radom photos (hmmmm, do we really need 14 pictures of this rock???). But these are some of the pictures H took with the camera today:

I was so impressed! They came out better than our flower pictures!!! I think we need to frame a couple of these! Maybe set up a show and sell a couple prints!

Below are a couple of my other favorite images from the day.
