C's dad has been diagnosed with Multiple Myloma, which is a blood cancer. He went to the hospital 2 weds ago with pain in his abdomen. He got a diagnosis of cancer 2 days later on Friday, but they were not sure what kind of cancer it was. So then there was an agonizing 6 day wait for the Multiple Myloma diagnosis. During that time, he was in a lot of pain and very disoriented and frustrated. It was not a good week. After the diagnosis, he was transfered to the University of Penn hospital on Friday. The doctors there were great. He started chemo yesterday, and is actually being released today and will start out-patient chemo 2 days a week. We are so happy to have him out of the hospital! He can even go back to work if he feels up to it.
Please keep C and his parents in your prayers. We know there is a long fight ahead of us. Multiple Myloma is considered incurable, but all tests indicate they have caught this early and that C's dad has a mild case of Myloma at this time. He is also young to be diagnosed with this cancer, so he has that working in his favor as well.
